Након што је пре више од десетак дана немачки суд наложио компанији RapidShare да унапред проверава и одобрава сав појединачни материјал који корисници постављају на сервере, како би се проактивно спречило кршење ауторских права (јер немачки закон не познаје олакшицу коју има амерички, а која омогућава својеврсно гледање кроз прсте сајтовима који бришу откривени пиратски садржај и забрањују поновно постављање након откривања) многи су се запитали шта ће се десити.

The court said that the steps taken by Rapidshare using MD5 Hash based content filtering to block previously removed material is not enough and can easily be bypassed changing a few bytes by adding/removing/altering the file contents, the court also said that the company has to "proactively check content before publishing it", according to the court ruling Rapidshare should also log and check IP numbers of potential copyright infringers. Without a viable business model after removing copyrighted content, Rapidshare might face shutdown

Јуче у току дана, RS је расветлио бар део мистерије - неће нарушити приватност својих корисника без обзира на све.

The security of personal data is very important to us, especially in these times. That's the reason why we will not spy out the files that our clients faithfully upload onto RapidShare, not now nor in future. We are against upload control and guarantee you that your files are safe with us and will not be opened by anyone else than yourself, unless you distribute the download link. RapidShare, of course, is against the distribution of illegal files and as soon as we are informed about illegal distribution, we delete these files and put them on a filter. But the general control of uploads is out of the question for us, because we think that especially in these times data privacy comes first.

Шта ће се десити даље? Немам појма, ја Rapid користим само за повремено дељење савршено легалних докумената са сарадницима, а и то све мање у последње време... Имам додуше и пар видео фајлова који ми набијају колекционарске поене, које сам мислио једног дана пребацити у плаћени налог... Чудно да и дан данас људи скидају видео Crysis-а :)
